Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the alleged filmmaker behind the video that sparked protests across the Muslim world, was arrested Thursday, the Los Angeles district attorney's office said.
"I can confirm he's in custody, scheduled to make a court appearance as we speak, in federal court in downtown LA," Thom Mrozek of the United States Attorney's Office told AFP, giving no further details.
Nakoula's film, as wrong as it may have been is free speech, and this arrest has more to do with the President's desire to appease the Muslim world than a real violation of the guys parole. This is just another example of the Obama administration's disregard for the the Constitution.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner needs to be shown the door.
Democrats and Liberals suffer the transgressions of the state owned media complex in a much more pliable, soft brained way:
Watch this. He's rightfully angry and afraid for his country.
We are losing our freedoms at the hands members of the media who have been trained in great leftist institutions like Columbia University. We are losing our country also, because of establishment Republicans who refuse to do anything about the lies coming out of the White House.
We are fighting a war, and the representatives who are supposed to be fighting for us have put up the white flag and laid down their arms.
Within 24 hours of the 9-11 anniversary attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, U.S. intelligence agencies had strong indications al Qaeda–affiliated operatives were behind the attack, and had even pinpointed the location of one of those attackers.
Okay. The Obama administration was actively lying about what happened at our embassy in Benghazi. They said that it was all part of a spontaneous protest that got out of hand. The protest occurred because of a detestable, disgusting, awful video that insulted the prophet of Islam.
Why?
Why wouldn't the administration even admit that terrorism was involved until recently? Obama still hasn't used the "T" word to describe what happened on 9/11/2012.
Sufyan Ben Qumu is thought to have been involved and even may have led the attack, Fox News' intelligence sources said. Qumu, a Libyan, was released from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2007 and transferred into Libyan custody on the condition he be kept in jail. He was released by the Qaddafi regime as part of its reconciliation effort with Islamists in 2008.
All roads lead back to the President's ineptitude. He releases detainees that should truly never see the light of day again. He supports Arab Spring uprisings that lead to theocratic regimes whose stated purpose is to destroy Israel. Then he continues to fund those regimes with money to the tune of billions of dollars!
He is a Reverend Wright Christian. All his life, he has been told how bad the United States is and how bad our colonialist policies are. Not just by Reverend Wright, but by all the people who raised him, and then the people he chose to surround himself with.
Reverend Wright preached about how "America's chickens are coming home to roost" after the original 9/11. He blamed the United States interference in the Middle-East and Africa.
But what to do when your own foreign policy of withdrawal and appeasement has caused a power vacuum, one where terrorist affiliated groups like the Muslim Brotherhood have been waiting patiently for years to 'spring' into a controlling force?
What to do when your own policies are starting to be blamed for the spreading chaos in the region?
What to do when you just know that these people are only acting out because they have been so down-trodden by the colonialist forces around them?
Simple. Deny that it's really happening. Blame it on a video. Apologize to the world for having free speech. Make lots of noise about your right to free speech.
And do nothing. Pursue a Clintonesque USS Cole policy and Simply. Do. Nothing. After all, you won a Nobel Peace Prize for exactly that. Doing nothing.
Here's a great video from RNC of the denial of Barack Obama. In his weak mind, there is no Muslim extremism. He spent much of his time at the UN yesterday talking about the video that he has said precipitated the attack. He was apologetic about our free speech, and only used the word terrorism once in the entire speech.
He is a weak President and his policies have destabilized the Middle-East. As with failed President Jimmy Carter, we will be dealing with Obama's failings for decades.
He's worried about offending Muslims, more than any other religion. via NRO:
He also claims to be a Christian. I doubt it. How does his stance on abortion make him any kind of a Christian? He would kill the innocent.
How does removing God and Israel from the Democrat Party platform make him a Christian?
Krauthammer was right. If they don't like it, they can go to hell.
Note that even though Obama claimed that the US embassy in Egypt issued the statement without his knowledge, the 9/11 embassy statement and his statement to the UN are very similar.
Here's the new ad directed at the Latino community.
George is a big crybaby who wants everything his way and he never misses the chance to play the race card if things aren't going his way. George said this when his crappy show was canceled, via LA Times:
"TV just became really, really white again,"
Remember how he attacked Kirstie Alley on dancing with the stars? from USA Today
"She did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away," Lopez said. "Before the show she went to the market, then she had roast beef, and this is her going all the way home," he continued, and then cut to a video of the Geico pig, squealing.
Nice. He's a horrible sexist pig who plays the race card. Just the kind of person that the Dems seem to love.
Let us know how that's working out for you on November 6, Barack.
President Obama is out there accepting responsibility for all things bad in our nation, or so it would seem. In an interview with CBS' "60 minutes", He stated at one point that he takes "full responsibility for everything that we do...but..."
Before that, he took credit for saving the financial and the auto industries and giving us all great tax breaks.
Really? The Federal Reserve is now just making up money. Here's a video from Glenn Beck. He's playing a clip from the same 47% talk that Mitt Romney gave where he was excoriated by a "Mother Jones" editorial. In it, Mitt explains that the Fed is pretty much just making money out of thin air, and devaluing the dollar.
I'm not a financial wizard, but that scares me. How long before we start asking, "How's the saved economy thing going for ya?" to a financially collapsed superpower?
As to the auto bailout, whether or not it worked is still way up in the air. GM alone is still facing financial difficulties and seems to be managed by a government (they now own 25% of GM), whose economic policies are prevailing when building and marketing cars. GM takes a $49,000 loss for every Chevy Volt produced.
Barack Obama's economic policies are genius.
If he leaves the Bush era tax breaks alone, he calls it a tax cut on the middle-class. That's the Bush tax cuts mind you. They've been there for ten years. So now not raising taxes is the same as cutting them. Hmmm.
He also says that all of his temporary tax breaks are tax cuts. Just so we get this straight, he thinks that you, because you received a more sizable child and dependant care credit for one year should be thankful for this one temporary tax break and then spend all the money saved even though the economy is still weak.
How weak? We haven't seen the US labor force participation rate this bad since 1981, the year Ronald Reagan first took office.
But not so weak as the economy that Warren G. Harding inherited. He had a Depression on his hands when he took office 1921. What he did was roll back regulation, taxes, cut government spending and then get out of the way and let the free market kick in on it's own. In a few years, this country had a solid recovery on it's hands with good levels of employment. That's why we only hear of Roosevelt's Depression. You know, the one that lasted so long. President Obama seems to pride himself in borrowing from the Roosevelt playbook. Maybe that's why this is the worst recovery from a recession since the "Great" Depression.
While discussing taxes, lets look at ObamaCare. ObamaCare is the single largest tax levied on the American people in it's history. If not insured, one will have to pay a penalty tax that hits middle income Americans, the very people Obama says are getting the tax breaks. ObamaCare was unpopular from the beginning and most voters want it repealed.
Barack Obama accepts credit for a great many things, but he wants no one to realize how bad things truly are.
UPDATE:
Here's a chart of all the taxes that have and will take effect due to ObamaCare, via The Foundry :

Someone should tell Al Gore about this immediately. He's a member of the board of directors at Apple.
There's a bug in the new ios 6.0 system for Apple Iphones and Ipads that is causing the older phones to warm and potentially heat the atmosphere into a China syndrome of global warming cataclysm.
My old Iphone 3gs has been heating up and draining the battery ever since I updated it. I've looked on line and discovered that this is a systemic problem. I've been running a computer model based on the number of older Iphones and factored in the number of coal powered energy plants that will have to be put into peak operational mode to recharge them. I've also plugged in the number of computers that will be running while their owners Google how to fix this thing.
Global brownouts and blackouts may occur.
Google servers, with as much capacity as they have, may be overrun. Then people would have to rely on Bing.
Yes. Bing.
Do I even have to tell you, gentle reader, how tragedious that would be? Imagine riots on a global scale. The computer modeling confirms this.
In the meantime, as the riots are occuring, all the energy production needed to recharge all the Iphones will completely drain our energy reserves and cause reliance on wind and solar power, causing even more riots. But that's not all. All the energy plants will have belched so much carbon into the atmosphere that it'll cause irreversible green-house effect.
Based on the models, our earth will be turned into a soupy hot mess of mutated hominids (did I mention that according to the models, we'll all become zombies due to the radiation from our phones?)
The horror.
I'm only glad to be the one to have discovered this problem, and may have found the solution, but I'll need a government grant, of course to study the situation further.
It involves opening all the windows around the world and running the air conditioning so that we may cool Mother Gaia to previous levels.
My models are very accurate, so I know that this may work. Of course nothing is a sure thing, so I'll need more funding to study the situation.
If it is discovered that I have donated many thousands of dollars from my government grants to the Obama campaign, I assure the gentle reader that it's only because it's important to continue the research and anyway it's all lies, and that there is a squirrel that the gentle reader needs to look at.
Good videos all, but if you only have five minutes, watch the last one!
Pamela Geller rocks!
The first thing "people" like Erin Burnett do is ask something like, "What if your free speech gets someone killed?" Good grief I've seen people like this that are just that stupid, but I still have trouble fathoming it. The answer is NOT to appease the savages!
Is she one of those that blamed America first for 9-11? Is she blaming "the video" for the four 9-11-2012 deaths in Libya, including Ambassador Chris Stevens?
(I discovered this video on The Other McCain)
The second thing they do is equate words with racism. "Savages" is racist. So I was a racist for calling these people savages.
Watch this if you have time (by way of Trevor Louden):
It doesn't matter that we'll all be payed equally, because we're all in the poor house! NO JOBS FOR ALL!
Yes! Romney/Ryan agrees with that! affordable healthcare using free market solutions! Instead, ObamaCare has levied the largest tax in history! MORE TAXES FOR ALL!
Doofus! Cult member! We have clean energy! Global Warming is. A. Scam!!! What you want is to raise the price of energy so NO ONE can afford it! POVERTY FOR ALL!
So why would you even consider voting for Barack "You stole my money you evil rich person" Hussein Obama?!! He's done nothing but attack success since day one! Mitt is successful! Let him show you how! MORE CLASS WARFARE FOR ALL!
At least these last two are candid.
Cover the moobs!
More Red Rum for all. I actually kind of like that sentiment. Spiced rum is one of my favorites! Wait, what?

SECRET VIDEO: Romney Tells Fat-cat Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters
He's the Devil! Shave his head, You'll see! There's a 666 under that Morman head of perfect hair!
Or something like that.
The article goes on to say something like this:
While passing the money bag earlier earlier this year with a bunch of the evil fat-cat MILLIONAIRES and BILLIONAIRES, Republicrap presidential candidate Willard Mitt "Satan" Romney told a small group of evil wealthy contributors what he truly thinks of all the "scum" who support President Barack Obama. He dismissed these Americans as "weasels" who pay no taxes, who don't assume responsibility for their lives, and who think government should "coddle" them and give them "free cars" and "stuff". Okay that's not what he "really" said but it's close enough! He also called us all "stupid"and said we need "drool buckets"!
We have the video! Okay he says none of those things, but he was thinking them! To protect our confidential source, we are blocking part of the image with a giant food stamp.
To very loosely paraphrase Romney, 47% of the electorate would vote for Obama, because they are reliant on government. They pay no taxes, rely on welfare programs, and have no self worth.
While I would say that that's possibly an exaggeration, I would also say there's a lot of truth in it. All he's saying to the people who are funding his campaign, is that right now he's going after the the people who are sitting on the fence. Winning over the welfare crowd is going to take a little longer than a couple of months. It took me a while before I realized that conservatives want everyone to be self-reliant, and that that's a good thing.
Good grief. You'd think he'd driven off a bridge with some babe in the car and left her for dead or something.
Or screwed an intern in a side room of of the Oval Office.
Or choomed and snorted his youth away.
Or suffocated the economy with over-regulation.
Or became frightened of a little bunny.
Libs, get ready to put yer drool buckets away. November 6 is self reliance day.
Savages. Notice the heart on that kids shirt. There will be no outcry from Obama, trying to protect Christians. For that matter, no riots from either Christians or PETA at the Nigerian embassies around the world.
Somehow, we're supposed to be sensitive to the needs of Islamo-fascists like these. Barack Obama would look at this picture and immediately blame and detain the maker of that film.
Where do his sympathies lie?
Christians are killed in the name of religious persecution more than anyone else in the world. It must be because we offended someone. We should apologize, right President Obama?
This tweet exploded, with 70 retweets and 21 favorites. At some point after midnight, my time, Roseanne (yes, that Roseanne) retweeted it, and I got many more.
By this point, I'm sort of used to weird things happening on Twitter so this all didn't phase me much.
But here's what interested me:
There were a few criticisms from people, yes. People told me I had no sense of reality (hyperbole much?), and that I was an A--hole, but there was a large proportion of independents who retweeted me in this small sample.
I am of the belief that almost nobody but Democrats likes President Obama much.
The independents are where Mitt Romney has to mine for votes, and I'm sure his team already knows this.
The polls, if you didn't know, mean nothing. Most are skewed (in an effort to demoralize prospective Romney voters?)
Go see Doug Ross. You'll see that Rasmussen Polls are the most accurate, and very hopeful.
UPDATE:
Many thanks to Doug Ross and his readers for visiting my little blog!
Here's Paul Ryan, pointing to the diplomatic failures of the Obama administration:
He speaks of Obama's failed policies in the Middle East, and our best ally in the region, Israel. He says that Israel has been treated with "indifference bordering on contempt by the Obama administration."
It would seem that the administration is all about covering up the what really happened. Jay Carney, today couldn't stop talking about the "reprehensible and disgusting" video that someone made, and that the chaos with embassies in the Middle East right now is only about that. Do they really expect us to believe that people showing up with rocket propelled grenades and guns are doing it spontaneously? no pre-planning is what Carney said.
9/11 is what happened. That protests happened in two locations shows signs of coordination. In my opinion, the video was used to instigate the protests and then the terrorists piggy-backed, so they could break in to the embassy and kill our people.
Obama has made this more about the video than anything else. If it weren't just the video, then that would mean his policies in the Mideast are abysmal, and that his Arab Spring might lead to decades of turmoil and repression a la Iran and Carter.
We can't get rid of Obama soon enough. Here he is, saying nothing for one minute:
Honestly, I'd rather watch an empty chair. Personally, I think that Barack Obama has perfected the art of talking to hear himself talk, and he shows that he has little knowledge of what the official positions of the U.S. government are.
What the pundits come away with, is that it is important to note that Obama is saying that Egypt is not an ally. This is certainly a difference in our policy, after the much ballyhooed, Obama supported "Arab Spring" uprising. Very scary! After all, Egypt is historically one of our main allies in the region. Does this mean that Barack Obama's Arab Spring diplomacy is a complete and utter failure? Yes.
Now watch Mitt Romney explain about Egypt:
Clear and thoughtful. He lays out the requirements for Egypt to be a close ally of ours. Israel is included in his thoughts on the subject.
Obama shows time and again that he's out of his league. As with Carter and Iran, we will be dealing with Obama and the Arab Spring for decades.
Obama's representatives in Egypt issue a statement, due to local protests that threaten to turn violent:
The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims -- as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.
In other words, "We're sorry we have free speech. We're so sorry someone abused their free speech and hurt you feelings. Please don't kill us."
The administration takes eighteen hours to walk back that statement:
"The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government,"
In other words, "Americans seem to be disgusted with our cowardice, so we never said that."
That's not the only time this sort of thing has happened. Barack grew up in an ideological bubble, where he was always right. Everyone always agreed with him.
Remember when Reverend Jeremiah Wright said these things?:
The man who married the Obama's, the man who baptized their children, the church where Barack Obama professed to go for twenty years fell under scrutiny.
Barack Obama's statement four years ago:
I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother...
Which translated means, "He's my Marxist racist America hating Pastor! Get off my back!"
But then, when the uproar promises to drown out the 2008 campaign and, after Reverend Wright preaches more hate and racism to the NAACP:
I am outraged by the comments that were made and saddened by the spectacle that we saw yesterday... The person that I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate, and I believe that they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church. They certainly don't portray accurately my values and beliefs. And if Reverend Wright thinks that that's political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn't know me very well.
In other words, "Oops, it looks like he's still talking after I offered to pay him off, and he's still talking the hate stuff, so I better throw him under the bus now before this thing gets too big."
When Barack Obama gave a speech at a campaign rally in Roanoke, Virginia recently he said this:
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business—you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen.
In other words, "All the sweat, toil, investment of time and money, putting your neck on the line is for naught. You are riding on the backs of the poor and you need to pay, you evil Capitalist!!!"
Americans were absolutely insulted:
And the comments that he made were not taken out of context. They showed us something about what he really feels. The point of this exercise is to look to what he says when he thinks everyone agrees with him. That is to say, before he sees the look of shock and horror on peoples faces.
Mitt Romney released a statement last night.
from the same article:
An instant consensus appears to have developed among reporters and commentators that Mitt Romney made a mistake when he released a statement last night condemning the Obama administration's response to attacks on U.S. diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt. At Romney's hastily-arranged news conference in Florida Wednesday morning, nearly every question was predicated on the assumption that Romney's statement was a miscalculation. Also on Wednesday morning, journalist Mark Halperin, a reliable indicator of media insider sentiment, tweeted that Romney's decision at the news conference to repeat his criticism of the Obama administration's action could be the "most craven and ill-advised move of '12."
But Romney was, and is, right. As events in Benghazi and Cairo unfolded, the Obama administration's first instinct was to apologize for any offense Muslims might have taken from an Internet video, made in America, that mocked and ridiculed the prophet Mohammed, and which the radicals cited as the cause for their actions. In his original statement last night, Romney said, "It's disgraceful that the Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks." Then, on Wednesday morning, Romney said the administration "was wrong to stand by a statement sympathizing with those who had breached our embassy in Egypt instead of condemning their actions."
The attacks on two different embassies by Islam on 9-11 of all days was a coordinated attack on the United States. An act of war.
So far, President Obama seems to be proceeding with USS Cole style diplomacy. He's paralyzed, as he was when it came down to ordering Osama Bin Laden to be killed.
Intelligence experts and U.S. government officials are starting to view the attack in Libya that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others in Benghazi as a coordinated attack.
Several sources have said they believe it was a planned operation and have pointed out several developments that seem to support the possibility.
The President has ratcheted up security at embassies worldwide because of the incident.
A 14-minute clip of the film, “The Innocence of Islam,” aired on YouTube shows a fictional attack by Muslims on a Christian family followed by an account of the origins of Islam depicting the Prophet Mohammed as a womanizer. The Associated Press said the film was made by an Israeli living in California, and promoted by an Egyptian Christian also based in the U.S.
Also in Egypt:
The United States Embassy was attacked and taken over by Islamists.
It should be noted that the Obama administration only condemned this statement after it became controversial -- a clear sign that they probably agreed with it, until they didn't.Politico:
The Obama administration is disavowing a statement from its own Cairo embassy that seemed to apologize for anti-Muslim activity in the United States.
"The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government," an administration official told POLITICO.
The U.S. embassy in Cairo put out a statement early Tuesday that apologized for an anti-Muslim film being circulated by an Israeli-American real estate developer.
"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims - as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions," the embassy said in a statement published online.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the film depicts the Muslim prophet Muhammed as a "womanizer, pedophile and fraud" - a depiction bound to offend many Muslims.
The embassy came under widespread criticism for failing to defend free speech in the face of threats of violence. Egyptian protesters rioted anyway, breaching the embassy walls and tearing down the American flag.
"Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a Tuesday statement.
The Obama administration is running around apologizing for people who are using their freedom of speech. Hillary Clinton is the first to stand up to defend Islam. Where are the apologies to Christians and Jews being slaughtered around the world for their beliefs?
Update 2:
In this insane world, the conservatives saw it coming. While all the "Liberals and Rinos were looking for new found freedom, anyone with a brain and a memory could see what was really going down.
We are now dealing with a nuclear Iran, which failed President Jimmy Carter gave up decades ago. I remember when we were all viewing the fall of the Shaw of Iran through the Hope and Change glasses.
How many decades will we have to see the incompetence of Barack Obama rear its ugly head because of his support of the Radical terrorist Muslim Brotherhood and his anti-Israel policies?
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney suddenly revealed that “Jerusalem is and should be the capital of Israel,” despite past press briefings in which he refused to answer the question.
“Jerusalem is and should be the capital of Israel,” Carney said during the press gaggle today according to the pool report. “It is also the case as a matter of policy of the United States … the status of Jerusalem has to be decided by the parties as part of a comprehensive peace agreement. That is the position that George W Bush held and that Bill Clinton held.”
Carney’s statement on Air Force One is an improvement over his performance in a recent press briefing, in which he found himself incapable of using a proper noun when asked to identify the capital of Israel.
“Our position has not changed,” Carney kept repeating in July, despite repeated and loud appeals from reporters to give a straight answer.
Weird what a couple months can do.
-- from The Washington Examiner by way of Weasel Zippers
This from the original The Lid article, where he scoops the mainstream media and forces them to cover this great story:
Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. During a press briefing at the end of July, Jay Carney refused to outline the President’s position on Jerusalem. Eventually the administration released a statement that Obama's position remains unchanged, Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel because its final status has not yet been negotiated. That statement was a lie, but it is now codified with the omission from this year's platform. Notice that it that the Campaign isn't even saying the borders of Jerusalem are subject to negotiation which would mean that the western part of the city would remain with the Jewish state, the Obama administration has removed all reference to Jerusalem from its platform, indicating a belief that the entire city is up for grabs.
Yikes.
Here is the original presser where Jay Carney can't even say what the Capital of Israel is:
What we have her is a Reverend Wright moment. The President has been dragged screaming and kicking into acknowledging something for political expediency, that in his heart of hearts he doesn't believe.
Sheer desperation. My fear is that the pandering may work.
Over the weekend, I was exposed yet again to the open minded "liberal" viewpoint that all criticism of Barack Obama and his wife is based in racism. To those who still think in these archaic terms, or even if you don't, I would ask you to watch this. It's long but great. Watch when you have the chance.
I'll ask the questions I've asked before. Does disagreement denote racism? Does the fact that I disagree with the Clintons as adamantly as I do with the Obamas make me racist against whites?
After all is said and done, I'm disgusted with the "liberals" who play the race card on a daily basis. They have taken all meaning out of the word.
It shows that the US Labor Force Participation rate is as low as it was back in 1981. And, not being an expert, It looks like the momentum is on the downward side. Scary.
Bill Clinton, nominating Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention, via ABC News:
President Obama started with a much weaker economy than I did. No President – not me or any of my predecessors could have repaired all the damage in just four years.
Warren G. Harding did. He had a depression to deal with, not a recession. via investopedia:
Between 1918-1920, inflation touched 20% and the post-war economy looked grim. In response, by June, 1920, the New York Federal Reserve Bank had increased the discount rate to a record 7%. When Warren Harding became president in March 1921, unemployment had tripled to 12%. Gross National Product (GNP) had plummeted 17% and Harding found himself under tremendous pressure to initiate massive government intervention to stave off a financial collapse. Some of that pressure was coming from his Secretary of Commerce (and future president), Herbert Hoover.
...Defying conventional wisdom, Harding slashed taxes and cut federal spending in half. Rather than propping up failing businesses and policies, he forced credit and financial markets to restructure to current conditions, encouraged businesses to reduce production costs and relied on the free markets to reset asset values and investment allocations. Without government intervention, the economy responded quickly and began to rally during the summer of 1921. A year later the unemployment rate had retraced to 6.7% and dropped to 2.4% by 1923.
What did he do? He fixed the economy in two years, by letting the free markets correct without government intervention. TWO YEARS. He got out of the way, and let people run their own businesses.
Huh. That sounds like the cold hard calculations of a raaaaaacist Republican who hates people, hates the poor, and only wants to make the rich richer, doesn't it?
All Barack Obama has done is to prolong the recession. That's all Keynesian economics does! Witness what Franklin Roosevelt did, with his "New Deal" policies, via The Wall Street Journal:
Why wasn't the Depression followed by a vigorous recovery, like every other cycle? It should have been. The economic fundamentals that drive all expansions were very favorable during the New Deal. Productivity grew very rapidly after 1933, the price level was stable, real interest rates were low, and liquidity was plentiful. We have calculated on the basis of just productivity growth that employment and investment should have been back to normal levels by 1936. Similarly, Nobel Laureate Robert Lucas and Leonard Rapping calculated on the basis of just expansionary Federal Reserve policy that the economy should have been back to normal by 1935.
So what stopped a blockbuster recovery from ever starting? The New Deal. Some New Deal policies certainly benefited the economy by establishing a basic social safety net through Social Security and unemployment benefits, and by stabilizing the financial system through deposit insurance and the Securities Exchange Commission. But others violated the most basic economic principles by suppressing competition, and setting prices and wages in many sectors well above their normal levels. All told, these antimarket policies choked off powerful recovery forces that would have plausibly returned the economy back to trend by the mid-1930s.
They were trying to be more like Europe, giving more power to the unions:
By the late 1930s, New Deal policies did begin to reverse, which coincided with the beginning of the recovery. In a 1938 speech, FDR acknowledged that the American economy had become a "concealed cartel system like Europe," which led the Justice Department to reinitiate antitrust prosecution. And union bargaining power was significantly reduced, first by the Supreme Court's ruling that the sit-down strike was illegal, and further reduced during World War II by the National War Labor Board (NWLB), in which large union wage settlements were limited by the NWLB to cost-of-living increases. The wartime economic boom reflected not only the enormous resource drain of military spending, but also the erosion of New Deal labor and industrial policies.
Keynes doesn't work. Neither did FDR's policies. Neither have Obama's. Instead of turning the economy around, he has delayed economic recovery with policies that seem to be right out of the Roosevelt text book.
Listen to John Maynard Keynes, (who seems to be the central inspiration for the current American government's economic policies) at the end of his life:
"I find myself more and more relying for a solution of our problems on the invisible hand which I tried to eject from economic thinking twenty years ago."
The invisible hand that he's talking about is the free market's ability to correct itself. The more the government intervenes, the longer the recovery. Even Keynes seems to realize that the free market is a powerful force.
Let people decide how to reckon with their business. Let them make the adjustments needed to make a profit and thereby hire more and more people. They know better than a group of men hundreds of miles away.
Last night the Dems held a nomination party to die for! Bill "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" Clinton gave the nomination speech:
We're here to nominate a President, and I've got one in mind. Hillary. Ha! just kidding! Since she's kinda old and bloaty, You'll have to settle for someone else.
I want to nominate a man whose own life has known its fair share of adversity and uncertainty. Always wondering when his next choom session would start. Always hoping for that free ride. A man who ran for President to change the course of an already weak economy and then just six weeks before the election, saw it suffer the biggest collapse since the Great Depression because of people like Congressman Barney Frank, who helped cause the housing bubble that started this party.
A man who stopped the slide into depression and put us on the long long long long road to stagnation knowing all the while that no matter how many jobs were suffocated and destroyed, there were still millions more waiting, trying to feed their children and keep their hopes alive.
I want to nominate a man choomy on the outside but burning for Amerika on the inside. A man who believes we can build a new Amerikan Socialist Dream collective driven by class warfare and hate, re-education and cooperatives. A man who had the good sense to be married to Michelle Obama by the wonderful Marxist Reverend 'God D-mn Amerika' Wright!.
Where's my cigar? Heh.
I want Barack Obama to be the next Savior of the United States and I proudly nominate him as the standard bearer of the Democratic Party.
And so Bill spoke on, in a dreamy way, describing how the Republicans were wrong about everything, how the Democrats were only here to help the rich become as poor as everybody else, and why are Republicans always such haters and raaaacists? What about those great job killing regulations, huh? That'll teach people to try to be successful! We're better off now!
We're better off now! look at all those jobs President Obama created with his own two hands since this economy tanked. You didn't build that! Ha!
Where's Miss Lewinsky? mmmmm.
I have to admit, I was a little puzzled by that last statement.
The Recovery Act saved and created millions of union jobs only so President Obama could kill and destroy millions of other jobs through government overreach. Hope springs eternal? Huh.
It's nice when a politician is so candid.
The auto industry restructuring worked. Now the unions run the show! Whoooo! The millions that come from the union slush funds? That buys a lot of fine long Cuban cigars!
President Obama's "all of the above" energy plan is helping too – Screw oil. Screw coal. Wind and air are where it's at. Because we all know that the sun always shines and the wind always blows! Higher gas prices? Screw you too. You'll do what I want and like it. Oh and afterward? You might want an ice-pack, Juanita.
All this time, Bill seemed to be speaking to an empty chair. It was only now that I realized it. I think he was talking to the American public. But he kept saying "Monica,"or was it "Juanita"?. Was he riffing off the Clint Eastwood speech? I was so caught up in the majesty of the convention, none of it seemed to matter.
Anyway the speech reached an end. Someone screamed "SAY IT COMRADE BILL!" Bill Clinton turned to the person, who was dressed in a pink vagina costume, bless her (his?) soul, and he apologetically explained that he doesn't like to use his catch phrase anymore..
But then, in a nod to the reverence of the situation, he said:
Okay. I'll start it. You finish!
I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN!
And the crown roared to life and screamed back at him, "MISS LEWINSKY!"
At the end, President of the United Socialist States of Amerika, Barack Hussein Obama, ran to him like a school girl, in a nod to the LGBLT community, and gave Bill a big wet kiss on the mouth.
Barack Obama's comments were not taken out of context. He insulted every business owner in the country when he said, "You didn't build that! Somebody else made that happen!"
Even CNN tells us that Barack is a fail in this category!
According to a study released last week by the liberal-leaningNational Employment Law Project, low-wage fields such as retail sales and food service are adding jobs nearly three times as fast as higher-paid occupations.
Conclusion:
The figure of 4.5 million jobs is accurate if you look at the most favorable period and category for the administration. But overall, there are still fewer people working now than when Obama took office at the height of the recession.
What the article tells us is that there are less jobs now than when Obama took over. What it doesn't tell us is how many more jobs there would be if it weren't for EPA overreach and the ObamaCare tax.
Also, there is the constant threat of raising taxes on the hiring class. How much money is locked up until a more business friendly environment comes along?
Obama's Policies have put a stranglehold on this economy. We need to let him go.
On the stump, President Obama likes to claim , “Over the last three and a half years, we’ve created 4.5 million new jobs.” This is actually false. According to the latest Department of Labor data, even measuring from the depths of the recession, only 4 million jobs have been created under Obama.
What Obama probably means is that the economy has created 4.5 million private sector jobs since the recession bottomed out. Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter made that more careful claim here.
This is just more of the "You didn't create that" rhetoric coming from Obama et al. We didn't create those jobs by taking a leap of fath and hiring someone. BARACK OBAMA DID!!!
And as I got to know Barack, I realized that even though he'd grown up all the way across the country, he'd been brought up just like me.
Really? You were brought up by a bunch of marxists too Michelle? Very interesting. Your parents abandoned you so that your grandparents could raise you and introduce you to all the best communists? Wow. So many shared memories you must have had with Barack. Did you have a choom gang too?
Barack was raised by a single mother who struggled to pay the bills, and by grandparents who stepped in when she needed help.
Barack's mother left Barack so she could travel the world and be an "anthropologist". How many women would do that?
Barack's grandmother started out as a secretary at a community bank…and she moved quickly up the ranks…but like so many women, she hit a glass ceiling.
Barack's grandmother became Vice-President of said bank. Some glass ceiling.
Like so many American families, our families weren't asking for much.
They didn't begrudge anyone else's success or care that others had much more than they did...in fact, they admired it.
Barack Obama has based his whole presidency on class warfare. Time after time have we heard him talking about punishing the rich "fat-cats" with higher taxes. These are the people who run small and large businesses and hire others. They are the ones who make the economy run.
We learned about dignity and decency – that how hard you work matters more than how much you make…that helping others means more than just getting ahead yourself.
So trust the government to give your money to welfare recipients. And we'll make a war on your church, whom you think knows better than the government where to put your charity dollars.
We learned about gratitude and humility – that so many people had a hand in our success, from the teachers who inspired us to the janitors who kept our school clean…and we were taught to value everyone's contribution and treat everyone with respect.
"Janitors" is racist.
And I've seen how the issues that come across a President's desk are always the hard ones – the problems where no amount of data or numbers will get you to the right answer…the judgment calls where the stakes are so high, and there is no margin for error.
Barack Obama has memos cross his desk. He then checks a box. (Bin Laden: check here if we should kill him today. Check here if Valerie should study the situation. Check here to go play golf now.)
And as President, you can get all kinds of advice from all kinds of people.
Valerie Jarrett runs his administration.
So when it comes to rebuilding our economy, Barack is thinking about folks like my dad and like his grandmother.
That's why he cut taxes for working families and small businesses and fought to get the auto industry back on its feet.
What he fought for was the over-payed union workers, who donate to Obama and the Democrats more than any other group. Cutting taxes? Obamacare is the single biggest tax increase in history. It will target the middle class more than any other group. It is a large part of Obama's war on jobs. The "recovery" from this recession is the worst "recovery" in history.
He did it because he believes that here in America, our grandparents should be able to afford their medicine…our kids should be able to see a doctor when they're sick…and no one in this country should ever go broke because of an accident or illness.
Death Panels. We already had the best healthcare in the world. Yes, there are things that could be made better, through the free marketplace.
And he believes that women are more than capable of making our own choices about our bodies and our health care…that's what my husband stands for.
Barack Obama stands for killing babies, even if they are born alive.
